Cape Town TV is looking for an individual to manage its online video platforms and assist with content acquisitions.
Operational requirements- Curate and upload content onto Cape Town TV’s online VOD platform.
- Keep OTT channel content up-to-date and delete outdated material.
- Copywriting – write short, punchy descriptions of the content with correct spelling and grammar.
- Research – online research on persons featured in the content, research user experience of the platform.
- Basic video editing – compile programme segments into one show, find thumbnail images.
- Basic graphics – cropping, resizing and touching-up images.
- Liaising with content partners/producers to get the right information and ensure that deliverables are being delivered.
- Liaising with the news team to keep content on the News channel up-to-date.
- Liaising with the programming and production departments to ensure all relevant content is secured and uploaded.
- Liaise with content partners for live streams.
- Liaise with content partners doing their own uploads to ensure they are doing it correctly and to moderate content where necessary.
- Liaise with the marketing department to ensure online and on-air marketing is done; compile social media posts where necessary.
- Train content partners on how to upload their content.
- Trawl through archived content to find relevant material to upload and to secure online distribution rights from the copyright holder.
- Monitor and analyse user behavior to optimise and promote featured content.
- Assist in developing the channel's online video strategy.
- Provide support to the programme manager regarding content acquisitions, reviewing content submissions and maintaining the tracking database.
Experience and personal attributesThe ideal candidate would be a marketing, journalism or digital media graduate with 2-5 years experience in a media industry.
- Reliable and meticulous.
- Knowledge and experience with video editing software.
- Knowledge and experience with graphics software.
- Knowledge and understanding of the online environment with regard to video platforms and online marketing.
- Ability to evaluate film/video/TV content with regard to technical quality, quality of storytelling and adherence to the channel’s editorial standards.
- Good copywriting ability and command of the English language.
- Ability to take the initiative and be proactive with regard to managing and acquiring content and working with content partners.
- Experience in video content curation, e.g. film festivals, YouTube channels etc. is an advantage.
The successful candidate will be offered a one-year, fixed term contract with a four-month probationary period and will be based at our offices in Observatory, Cape Town.
