We are looking for a well-organised and competent Multimedia Journalist to join the Feel SA team.
Education:
Diploma in journalism or broadcasting and communications
Knowledge and experience in film and edit
Recruitments:
On-camera presence: Presentable, professional and familiar with wardrobe, makeup, and speech delivery best practices.
Microphone: Know how to use proper mic techniques for anchoring, interviewing and minimising background noise.
Interviewing: Good communication skills and interviewing experience.
Camera: Knowledge of filming, editing and adding graphics to stories.
Duties and responsibilities related to:
Communication skills: Write unique, exciting, captivating stories in an authentic manner. Produce news stories that are engaging and gathering all information.
Technical skills: Use the latest editing and photography technology to tell compelling stories.
Creativity: Develop story ideas; write, shoot and edit news stories for online broadcasting; use graphics and new forms of media.
Precision: Deliver news in an accurate manner while still making the events exciting.
Interviewing: For stories about the lives and experiences of people
Collecting and organising: Of images or video footage for use in stories
Producing news items on topics: That includes politics, business, science, sports, entertainment, and health, and good news
Conducting research: To identify topics of interest that may not have been covered by other media outlets yet
Writing: For publication, including selecting appropriate titles and subtitles
Skills:
Research: Ability to find and interpret information. You may need to research topics for online news posts, a video script and a social media post.
Editing: Reviewing and revising written content. You may be responsible for editing written content, video content and graphic content.
Filming and photography: Being able to take photographs and film video for their stories. This requires a basic understanding of photography and filming techniques.
Social media marketing: Creating and managing social media accounts.
Critical thinking: Ability to analyse information and make decisions based on the information you have. You may be required to make decisions about what information to include in your story and what information to leave out.
Working hour:
Monday to Friday 10am - 6pm. (Hours may change when necessary)
May be required to work on the odd weekend if needed. If that happens, a day will be given off during the week.
