Job description
The Senior Merchandise Planner will join a team that is responsible for the strategic planning of inventory levels to meet demand, drive margin, and reduce liability to achieve financial targets. This role requires experience in E Commerce and Merchandise planning. Factory planning would be beneficial. All demand planning duties, including analyzing inventory flow and developing forecast models.
Develop and manage annual, seasonal and monthly merchandise plans for various categories
Partner with Buyers to develop and propose business tactics in response to current business trends, advising them on open-to-buy, optimum unit purchasing, sales analysis, etc.
Analyse and assess the sales performance of assigned product categories; revise in-season plans accordingly to maximize sales and profitability
Monitor and evaluate sales of current styles every week, partnering with merchandising and planning team to effectively manage receipts and inventory
Manage stock by SKU level to ensure total company booking are covered and any in season bookings or reorders are leveraged against existing inventory
Managing inventory and overstocks to plan promotional activity
Perform ad-hoc analysis based on historical orders, sales, product attributes, and current trends
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with cross-functional partners – Retail, Buying, E Commerce, Logistics and Production
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
4-5+ years of experience in merchandise planning, inventory management, financial planning, or a similar role
Proficient in Microsoft Excel required, including v-lookup and pivot tables
Thorough attention to detail and ownership over the accuracy of distributed reports and information
Able to adapt to changing priorities, work independently, and proactively identify and solve business issues as they arise
Clear understanding of basic financial measures: sales, gross margin, weeks on hand / weeks of supply, etc. and how to maximize them
Solid understanding of inventory management practices and procedures
