Purpose of the role 

The media strategist will be responsible for constantly reviewing, assessing, modifying, and making relevant Primedia Studio’s product offering to direct and, particularly, agency clients. This will include keeping abreast of all local and international developments and innovations related to not only TV, but all media types so as to inform Primedia Studio’s current and future competitive strategies. Understanding and applying market data driven by the Research team to create value propositions that solves for the media strategies of our clients in line with the Primedia Studio’s commercial growth aspirations. This role is accountable for the development and go to market processes of new media products, across TV and Video brands, ensuring their success and reporting on their impact. To give effect to this ongoing product review and development responsibility, is the need for the incumbent to workshop and guide AE agency sales approaches, pitch techniques and how to increase success rates and ARPU. 

Product development

• Accountability for the development and go to market of new media products, across radio and digital brands, including the actual product details-specific input given to positioning, packaging, pitching etc.
• Building relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to increase sales opportunities for the Primedia Studio’s product and service offering.
• Guiding, coaching, and training the sales team on the products alongside providing the product and associated collateral.
• Work in close association with the Research team on analysis and insights required, working alongside the Chief Intelligence Officer to ensure that the resultant data is used effectively to drive market share.

Sales strategy input

• Work in close association with the chief intelligence officer on sales strategy, particularly for agency teams, providing insight into buying and decision-making behaviour in the market.
• Actively contributing to the agency trading deal approaches and structures.
• Assess various tactical solutions for the various segments
• Find macro approach to meeting client needs and finding effective campaign opportunities
• Post Campaign efforts to further improve upon within the business.
• Deliver efficient, succinct strategic insights to clients and creative solutions.
• Understand the relationship between Live and Archive data

Requirements

• A formal marketing or media / related qualification would be preferable
• Preferably, but not limited to, 5-8 years’ work experience in a top media agency, in a strategy role
• Sound understanding of the SA media landscape
• Strong relationships at a senior level in the media industry, well respected and liked
• Essential to have strong digital as well as traditional media experience
