Myresidence.africa (a sister company of Relocation Africa) is a corporate accommodation agency for the business traveller industry offering vetted serviced executive apartments across Africa. MyResidence wishes to employ an experienced booking agent to process booking requests. The role requires strong administrative skills, with experience in the hospitality industry, focusing on fulfilling on clients requesting bookings. Our footprint is the entire continent of Africa, where we have over 500 properties across 60 cities. The bookings come primarily from booking agencies, travel managers and direct corporates.

Educational requirements:

Tertiary qualification required - preferably hospitality 

Salary: R15,000 - R20,000 per month - depending on skills and experience

Job Description: 

The role is responsible for fulfilling on booking requests from clients.

my/residence has an administrative portal that holds all the details of our properties. Your responsibility is to respond to requests as they are received, source appropriate properties to present as options to the client, negotiate any specific needs between the client and the property, process confirmed quotes and instruct the finance team to invoice the client and complete the first payment to the property. You will then hand the booking over to the guest liaison role once the booking has been completed. 

You will be required to communicate to the property acquisition specialist where additional properties are needed should new locations be requested or if current stock isn’t appropriate for a request as well as ensuring that every property has been vetted. 

It is an important requirement in this role to be able to negotiate, as for medium term temporary accommodation, the guest may need to travel with animals or have other special requirements. 

You will be developing a relationship with the properties, which will be invaluable when challenges need to be resolved, so being able to deal with high pressure situations will be important. 

Administration is a very important part of the job – our system supports the business workflow, and it is extremely important that all steps of the workflow are completed accurately. 

Cancellations are a regular occurrence, and you are required to be confident and resilient when enforcing the prior agreed cancellation terms. 

Previous experience required:

The successful candidate should have experience working in the travel industry. This can range from working at the front desk of hotels or in the serviced apartment industry to being a booking agent in the travel industry. Understanding the booking travel market is important and so having five years’ experience in the industry would be a minimum requirement.

  • Outlook, Word, Excel experience 
  • Excellent written and spoken English 
  • The ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines 
  • Well organised and self-motivated 
  • Experience in negotiating rates with suppliers 
  • Commercially astute 
  • Has the ability to prioritise tasks in an effective manner 
  • Lively enthusiastic personality 
  • Good numeracy skills 
  • Exceptional attention to detail 

This will be the core skill set, but depending on workload, the candidate will be fulfilling on other roles supporting the Property Acquisition function and Guest Liaison function
