Cape Town TV is looking for an individual skilled in video editing for the internship position of ingest operator.
Operational requirements
Receive videos for ingest from in-house productions, independent producers and acquired content.
Check that the content required for the week reaches the Final Control Centre on time and liaise with producers or video editors to ensure such deliveries.
Review the content and apply technical quality control standards including checking conformity with audio levels specifications, video quality and video format standards.
Run content through Adobe Premiere to check the above and make minor adjustments if necessary or request the contributor to re-edit the content to address major faults.
Run content through the Vantage processor to conform it to broadcast standards re. aspect ratio and frame rate.
Send conformed content to the server for scheduling and playout.
Review programmes for technical errors which might occur during production or post-production as well as for conformity with the channel’s editorial standards (e.g. inappropriate depictions of sex, violence, hate speech etc.).
Write reports on technical or editorial faults in programmes.
Qualifications and experience
Tertiary qualification in a field relating to film, video, media or television.
Experience with video editing software (experience with Adobe Premiere is an advantage).
Knowledge of video formats and technical parameters.
Ability to review content for both technical and editorial conformity.
Good understanding of film and video production techniques and technical standards.
Must be meticulous and have attention to detail.
Reliable and trustworthy.
Proficiency in one or more local African languages is an advantage.
The successful candidate will be offered a one-year, fixed term contract with a four-month probationary period and will be based at our offices in Observatory, Cape Town.
