Executive director: water and sanitation
Salary: annual package commencing from R2,148,405 per annum
Cape Town has recently become the first city to put Africa on the Leading Utilities of the World (LUOW) map. Attaining membership in this network is the gold standard of utility performance. Strategic ability, sound financial acumen and an innovative, influential and collaborative approach are fundamental, as is an expert knowledge and understanding of the Water and Sanitation environment.
Purpose/Strategic intent: - Achieving excellence in local government water and sanitation service delivery, infrastructure investment and operations
- Lead and direct the Water and Sanitation function to ensure the provision of a cost effective, customer centric, socially responsible and environmentally sound Water and Sanitation function.
Requirements:- A postgraduate qualification applicable and relevant to the functional focus of the position, preferably with a degree in the Engineering discipline
- At least 5 years experience at a senior managerial level within a large and diverse environment
- Demonstrated exceptional transformational leadership ability with capacity for innovation, and an influential and collaborative approach
- Possession of the MFMA Minimum Competency training is essential or alternatively, the successful candidate will be expected to attain such within 18 months after appointment
- Advanced knowledge of relevant policy and legislation
- Institutional Government systems, Audit and Risk management and Performance management
- Budgetary and financial management
- Excellent communication and relationship building skills
