Job description

The account manager should have an educated opinion on creative work and a solid understanding of the business and competitive environment of their brands and industries. They should be confident and competent to have a dialogue with and build strong relationships with clients.

They will need to develop greater confidence in terms of understanding creativity and strategy as well as developing their business acumen.

• Management of junior staff should there be any within the team
• Be able to develop proficiency skills with direct reports
• Generation and dissemination of comprehensive contact reports within 48 hours of contact with the client, including telecons. These are only to be completed if the meeting has been attended
• Ensure weekly status reports are disseminated internally and externally
• Attendance at all relevant internal, external, status meetings with clients and suppliers
• Attendance at internal briefings and brainstorm sessions
• Attendance and contribution to immersions and other fieldwork on a regular basis
• Ensuring that relevant staff in all departments (creative, planning, production) are updated regularly on all aspects relating to the business of clients
• Identification of pro-active opportunities on brands
• Coordination of client and internal agency meetings/presentations including room set up and catering
• Routing, presentation and approval procedure of all elements (quotations, copy forms, layouts, dye-lines, timing plans, media schedules etc.)
• Monitoring and communication of industry trends and account movements, and attendance at selected seminars, courses etc.
• Attendance and contribution to monthly charge-out meetings with production, media and the finance department
• Ensuring PO’s/CE’s approval are received timeously before monthly billing closure
• Knowledge and experience of the client’s consumer sales environment
• Assisting the strategic planning department in preparation of competitive reviews, creative sell presentations and any other projects deemed necessary of the planning department
• Preparation of concise, accurate and motivating simple creative briefs and input into complex (conceptual) creative briefs
• Assistance with yearly budget compilations
• Compilation of quarterly timesheet recons
• Represent the agency at client/agency functions
• Ability to present with confidence both internally and externally
• Assist with any other duties as assigned by senior team members
